Sodium hydrosulfite, also known as sodium dithionite or hydros. It is a white crystalline powder and exists in both the anhydrous and dehydrated forms. Sodium hydrosulfite has a powerful reducing capacity and allows vat dyes to be reduced readily at room temperatures.

IT is used as a reducing agent in aqueous solutions. It is used as such in some industrial dyeing processes, primarily those involving sulphur dyes and vat dyes. It can also be used for water treatment, gas purification, cleaning, and stripping.

Sodium Sulphate is in the form of salt cake it is used in making wood pulp by the sulphate process, plate glass, window glass, and bottles, water glass, sodium sulphide, and precipitated barium sul- phate (blanc fixe).
